[ 01 / THE ROUTE ]

Tax-residency-anchored brokerage in the UAE

The Dubai route requires you to first become a UAE resident (Golden Visa, Freezone company, or employer-sponsored visa), then open a brokerage account under UAE jurisdiction. 0% UAE personal tax is the headline, but Indian tax residents continue to pay Indian capital gains tax on global income until residency formally shifts (typically by completing the 183-day test as an Indian NRI under FEMA).

[ 02 / WHY IT WORKS ]

0% UAE personal tax

No UAE income, capital gains, or wealth tax on individuals. Corporate tax of 9% applies to businesses with revenue above AED 375,000.

Top-tier custody

Access Interactive Brokers UAE, Saxo Bank UAE, or Swissquote: same platforms used by global wealth managers.

LRS-uncapped once NRI

Once your tax residency shifts to UAE, Indian LRS limits no longer apply to your UAE income or your UAE-earned investments.

Multi-currency at scale

Hold USD, EUR, AED, and other currencies in one account; useful if you transact across the Gulf and Europe.

[ 03 / THE NUMBERS ]

Limit / Access

USD 250,000 per FY via LRS while resident in India. Uncapped once NRI.

Tax treatment

0% UAE personal tax. Indian residents remain taxed in India on global income at Indian capital gains rates.

Your tax-residency status (resident or NRI) decides whether the 0% UAE rate is realised. Treaty positions vary.

US estate tax risk

Varies by underlying asset domicile. US-situs equities remain exposed.

Min ticket

USD 50,000+ (typical residency or setup cost range)

Effort

Weeks of setup. UAE residency or freezone company setup, with ongoing renewal compliance.
